Make an impact by:

As the Operations Manager in Japan, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of our EV charging services. This role covers a wide range of responsibilities, from supporting local operational activities and managing reporting requirements for OEMs, headquarters, and global leadership, to overseeing escalations from the call center and monitoring KPIs and budget performance.

You will also manage operations staff in Japan, drive improvements in operational processes, and take the lead in project management activities in close coordination with our clients and internal teams.

Importantly, you will act as an enabler, empowering teams and stakeholders by providing the right information, processes, and support to ensure collective success.

You will report directly to the Regional Leader for Japan, ensuring alignment with regional and global objectives while maintaining operational excellence at the local branch level.

Key Responsibilities

  • OEM, HQ, and Leadership Reporting: Prepare and submit operational reports to OEM partners (e.g., BMW, Mercedes-Benz), headquarters, and global leadership, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
  • Service Operations: Ensure that escalations from the call center are handled properly, monitor service performance, and follow up on resolutions to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • KPI and Budget Management: Track and manage key operational KPIs and budgets, providing visibility and accountability for Japan operations.
  • Team Management: Supervise and support operations staff in Japan, ensuring effective day-to-day execution of tasks.
  • Project Management Leadership: Lead project management activities for both local and global initiatives, coordinating with clients and internal teams while balancing hands-on tasks and operational responsibilities.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to refine and optimize operational processes in Japan, enhancing efficiency and service quality.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with colleagues across the Japan office and with diverse teams in Europe, ensuring continuous communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Enabler Role: Facilitate collaboration and enable success by supporting colleagues, removing obstacles, and ensuring that all teams have the resources and information they need.

Your profile

  • Solid experience in operations management, preferably within the automotive, mobility, or related industries.
  • Strong organizational and reporting skills, with the ability to manage detailed tasks as well as broader operational processes.
  • Experience handling escalations and ensuring effective communication with internal teams and prominent external stakeholders like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
  • Fluent in Japanese with deep understanding of Japanese customers, and proficient in English to collaborate effectively with global teams.
  • A collaborative and respectful team player, able to work constructively across diverse cultures and functions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster trust and cooperation at all levels.
  • Acts as an enabler, helping others succeed by providing clarity, structure, and support.
  • Experience in the EV or related industries is a plus.
  • Familiarity with IT systems and data handling (APIs, SQL, XML, etc.) is an advantage but not mandatory.
